Windows
An AI interview copilot that runs on Windows.
Sokrates is a native desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). It hears the interviewer and you as two separate channels, writes a short answer as each question lands, and shows it in a small overlay that Windows excludes from screen sharing and recordings. The same account works on macOS.
What you need
- Windows 10 version 2004 (May 2020 Update) or newer, or Windows 11, 64-bit (x64). Keeping the overlay out of a screen share depends on a Windows feature added in version 2004. On older builds the overlay shows as a black box in a share, and the app warns you before your first call.
- Any call app. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, or a phone call played through the computer. No bot joins the call and no plugin is installed in the call app. Sokrates listens to the computer’s own audio.
- A microphone, so your side is transcribed separately from the interviewer’s.
Install
- Download the installer from the download page. It is code-signed by Solomon Labs LLC, so Windows installs it without a SmartScreen warning.
- Sign in with Google or your email. The free plan starts right away, with no card.
- Start a session: choose Interview, Practice, or Meeting, and set the company, role, and round.
- Updates arrive inside the app. You choose when to install, and an update never starts during a session.
During the call
- Both sides transcribed live, the interviewer and you in separate labelled bubbles, in 40+ languages.
- Answers in a fixed shape: Scan (3–5 short bullets to glance at), then Say (50–90 words you can read aloud). Coding questions get runnable code with the complexity; system design gets a staged walkthrough.
- Global shortcuts that work while Zoom or Teams has focus: Ctrl+Shift+A ask from what was just said, Ctrl+Shift+S snap the screen (coding problems, diagrams), Ctrl+Shift+M mic on or off, Ctrl+Shift+\ hide or show.
- Out of the way: the overlay stays off the taskbar, can be dimmed, and Ghost mode passes clicks through it. How screen-capture exclusion works →
- Phone companion: read answers on your phone under the webcam, and snap the laptop screen from the phone. Sokrates Phone →
