Open sokrates.cloud/companion on your phone. It works with the desktop app as a second screen and a silent remote, or on its own when the laptop is locked down. A web page in Safari or Chrome, no app store, nothing to install.
Scan from your phonePair it once, read from the phone.
Press Phone in the session bar of the desktop app and scan the code. From then on the phone mirrors the live transcript and every streamed answer, and its buttons drive the laptop. Needs desktop app 0.3.63 or later.
Answers under the webcam
Prop the phone against the laptop just below the camera. The newest answer is anchored at the top of the screen, so your eyes stay level while you read Scan, then Say.
A silent remote
Ask now, Snap desktop, Go Deeper, Hide overlay, Clear. Each button runs on the laptop with no hotkey and no window change, so the call app keeps focus the whole time.
Nothing reflects
True-black screen with a brightness slider. Lenses and glasses show nothing, and the laptop screen can stay completely clean with the overlay hidden.
No desktop app. The phone does the work.
For a locked-down company laptop or a proctored assessment, sign in on the phone and start a session there. Keep the laptop on speakers rather than headphones, so the phone can hear the interviewer.
It listens
The phone microphone feeds the same live transcription as the desktop app. Questions are detected and answered on their own; the transcript streams in two lines above the buttons.
It reads the screen
Point the rear camera at the laptop. The frame is cleaned up on the phone and solved like a desktop snap: Say, Code, Explain, or Design, Say, Trade-offs.
It rehearses with you
Practice mode asks out loud through the phone, listens to your answer, and scores it out of 10 with a model answer, anywhere you are.
Set-up in three steps
- Open sokrates.cloud/companion in Safari or Chrome and sign in, or pair with the desktop app.
- Share → Add to Home Screen. It installs as a plain “Sokrates” icon and opens full screen.
- Prop the phone just below the webcam, drag the brightness slider down, and start the session.
The free plan applies to the phone too: 10 minutes of live transcription and 3 snaps a day, on the same account as the desktop app.
